FlyDubai to launch Nepal route this year

Budget carrier flydubai, said yesterday it would launch direct flights to Kathmandu, Nepal, starting December 15, 2009.

Marking its 11th destination, the carrier will operate four times a week service to Kathmandu from Dubai International Airport's Terminal 2, with one-way fares starting from Dh350, flydubai said in a statement.

It added that "almost three times" as many tourists have visited the region in the first half of this year as in the same period in 2008.

"Introducing Kathmandu will mean it will give the Nepalese community of the UAE opportunites to visit home more often," said Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai's Chief Executive. He recently said the airline plans to break even in two years' time.
