Kazakh sheep and goats banned in UAE
Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, has ordered a temporary ban on import of various types of sheep and goats and their products from Kazakhstan due to the appearance of chicken pox in sheep and goats there.
The order also includes ban on re-import of sheep, goats and their products that have originated in Kazakhstan through the UAE, telling both the quarantine and food safety departments to co-ordinate with authorities to implement the order.
The decision is based on information received from the World Organisation for Animal Health, which reported the appearance of the disease, "sheep and goat pox", in Kazakhstan.
