Madar expands Sudan projects

Madar, one of the leading construction material firms in the region, announced yesterday that it will expand its operations in Syria and Sudan. Madar is the international arm of Al Fozan Group, a Saudi-based firm.

Madar Holding said it is experiencing double digit growth in Sudan for the two consecutive years.

"Sudan is a promising market where companies that target long-term growth can enjoy sustainable business building and market development. We, in Madar, have realised the importance of widening our presence across fast growing as well as traditional markets such as Sudan," said Sameh Hassan, CEO of Madar.

Madar entered Sudan in 2006 and built a strong presence in steel and timber trading. The company says that it brings to Sudan a differentiated offering through its regional scale and distinctive customer service model.

Separately, Madar Holding also announced the establishment of its newest subsidiary in Syria.

The company is the second branch for Madar in the Levant region, having also expanded its business to Jordan in 2006.

The Syrian market is a fast growing one that is witnessing a construction boom supported by the entry of major regional developers into the market, said Hassan. "Entering Syria is another milestone for Madar Holding operations. We aim at establishing a significant presence in the key Syrian market to strengthen our operations in the Levant region," he said.
