Saudi oil minister sees supply cut hitting recovery

Any oil supply cut by Opec would raise the price of oil and could hamper efforts to revitalise the global economy, Saudi Oil Minister Ali Al Naimi said in remarks published on Sunday.

"Naimi said in response to a question by al-Hayat after arriving in Vienna that any cut in the Organization's production would raise the price of oil and prevent contributing to the revitalistion the global economy," Al Hayat newspaper said.

"We will discuss with the rest of Opec countries if they wish to cut or not and we will decide upon a collective decision at Opec," Naimi said according to the Saudi-owed newspaper.

Naimi is in Vienna for a meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries where the oil group will decide supply policy as oil producers seek to shore up oil prices.
