Al Ittihad will mark 40 years with new look

Abu Dhabi Media Company will reveal a contemporary full-colour redesign of its flagship Arabic newspaper Al Ittihad, coinciding with the newspaper's 40th anniversary.

The oldest newspaper in the UAE will boast a fresh editorial style that will have more photographs than the previous one. The five key editorial sections (UAE, Arabs and the World, Business, and Sport: Point of View) will remain in place but have been redesigned to reflect the new look and feel of the publication.

The first copy of Al Ittihad rolled off a newly imported printing press in Abu Dhabi 40 years ago.

Launched by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the then Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the first publication of Al Ittihad predated the formation of the UAE.

Since then, the newspaper has covered the birth of the nation and the unfolding story of the UAE's progress.
