DMI sets up unit to oversee social works
Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) has established a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Department, providing support services to charity and community-oriented activities. Mariam Al Murr Mohammed Bin Hareez has been appointed as Manager of the new department of DMI – one of the Middle East's pioneering media organisations and creative services group.
The new department will aim to develop awareness campaigns for eliminating negative social perceptions, use diverse broadcast platforms to engage the public in CSR activities, strengthen national identity, as well as support cultural and sports organisations.
In addition, the department will highlight key social issues and recommend individual cases that deserve immediate attention, such as people with special needs, the elderly, orphans, widows, divorcees, as well as low-income families in need of urgent help. The establishment of the CSR Department comes in line with DMI's strategy to communicate with diverse segments of the society across the Arab world and reiterate traditional values and customs.
Through internal communications within DMI, the CSR Department will seek to emphasise the role of the staff members in related activities and motivate them to stay involved from their respective job positions or through volunteering campaigns, which the new department will manage.
Leveraging the strength of DMI's various channels including Dubai TV, Sama Dubai, Dubai Sports, Dubai Racing and Dubai One, the new department aims to broadcast awareness campaigns that would serve to benefit the society. DMI will additionally aim to animate the company's internal environment by linking on-screen programmes with on-ground activities.
Media, especially visual media, plays a critical role in influencing people's opinion and perspectives. As industry leaders, DMI is keen to transform its channels into effective social communication platforms for engaging our viewers and mobilising their involvement in humanitarian efforts to serve the community.
As part of its initiative to find solutions for broader social issues, the department will explore grounds for cooperation among social services, government organisations, charity institutions, as well as other social and educational entities in the UAE.
