Emirates Business, Emarat Al Youm now part of DMI

A decision transferring the ownership of Emirates Business 24/7, Emarat Al Youm, Masar Printing Press and Noor Dubai Radio and TV, with all their assets, properties and rights, and all commitments and obligations, from the Arab Media Group (AMG) to Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), was issued yesterday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai.

Article 2 of the decision provides that all workers in the aforementioned bodies shall be transferred from AMG to DMI. The decision shall be effective from the date of publishing in the official gazette.

The decision is in line with Dubai Government's policies to achieve media excellence in Dubai and internationally. This would be achieved through presenting a quality media service, which is based on encouraging innovation and opening the door to innovators and motivating them to offer a distinguished media message that meets the aspirations of the large public base, whether UAE nationals, Arabs or non-Arabic speakers.

With this step, DMI will become one of the largest media establishments operating in the region in terms of the number of bodies working under its umbrella, or the broad and comprehensive range of specialisations.

The establishment includes, apart from the aforementioned organisations, newspapers and media institutions such as Al Bayan, Dubai TV, Sama Dubai, English channel Dubai One as well as Dubai Sports Channel and Dubai Racing Channel.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of DMI, instructed officials in charge of the media establishments covered by the decision as well as all staff to take the measures required to implement articles of the decision in an effective and flexible manner to ensure that the aspired-for strategic targets are achieved.

He asked them to redouble efforts to positively participate in the consolidation of the distinguished position that Dubai has managed to occupy in the media field through its strong media establishments, distinguished staff and clear plans that are inspired by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness's aspirations regarding the media network in Dubai and the UAE.

Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Media Escort to Sheikh Mohammed and Managing Director of DMI, said: "The decision comes as a new qualitative shift for DMI through which it will continue its message of delivering quality media content – a media which not only seeks to meet the aspirations of audience, inside or outside, but also aims to achieve media excellence to reach the highest levels of credibility and objectivity – qualities always associated with DMI."
