Nashwa nominated for Swizz Rose d'Or Awards
The Nashwa show, hosted by media personality Nashwa Al Ruwaini and broadcast on Dubai TV, has been nominated for a Social Award at Switzerland's famed television programme awards, the Rose d'Or festival.
Produced by Nashwa's production company Pyramedia, Nashwa has just ended its fourth season on Dubai TV and has proven to be the most popular television show of its kind in the region addressing various social issues in the Arab World. This is the second time Nashwa has been nominated for a Rose d'Or. In 2008 Nashwa was nominated in 'The Best Entertainer' category.
The Rose d'Or, the only global award for television entertainment, is regarded by the industry as the most prestigious.
The special Social Award category, for which Nashwa is nominated, considers programmes that best deal with humanitarian subjects in a direct and enlightening manner. Nominated alongside Nashwa are several others programmes from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada and Australia.
In fact, Nashwa has, throughout the last four seasons, pushed the boundaries of talk shows and issues addressed in the Arab World.
The programme has tackled important and often taboo subjects that lie at the base of Arab societies. Nashwa has uncovered several issues and has successfully helped guests tell their stories, thereby earning the trust of viewers and visiotors alike and taking its popularity rating high.
The goal of the Rose d'Or Festival is to reward originality, quality and creativity in entertainment programming and to encourage excellence in television and new media.
Throughout its history, the Rose d'Or has gathered the best of the year's entertainment programmes and made it easy for international broadcasters, buyers, producers and press to see it all.
This year, a record 515 entries were submitted and 110 shows have been selected by an international jury panel.
The winners will be decided during the 50th Rose d'Or festival, which will take place in Lucerne in September.
