Du still in talks for World Cup coverage

While the media and broadcasters are in a state of frenzy over the Fifa World Cup, the UAE's second telecom operator du has not tied up yet for showing the matches to its customers.

Al Jazeera Sport has broadcasting rights for the cup's coverage in the region, and according to reports, etisalat's e-vision has already tied up with the channel.

In an official communiqué to Emirates Business, du said: "We would like to reassure our customers that we are working with our partners to provide live action of the Fifa World Cup matches."

Al Jazeera television network, however, stated that "nothing formal has been signed yet with du", but conveyed that discussions are in the process.
