Dome probes ocean depths to cap oil leak

Workers lowered a huge dome – 100-tonne chamber some 5,000ft – below the surface to cap oil leak gushing from a sunken rig deep in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday. The unprecedented operation would have completed later yesterday.
