Workers' salary assured

The UAE Ministry of Labour has set up an office to oversee and protect the timely disbursement of workers' salaries. It will be affiliated to the office of the Executive Director of Inspection Affairs.

Labour Minister Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash said yesterday that the office will implement a system to monitor wages and working hours as well as transfer of salaries through banks and financial institutions.

The minister has met with money exchange companies and discussed with them mechanisms of transferring salaries of workers to their home countries and to hand over the balance of the salary to the workers at their workplace or accommodation.
