Anil Kapoor to play Jack Bauer in India’s ‘24’

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor’s maiden telly venture ‘24’ has created a lot of buzz since the day it was announced.

And now, there are talks about how the chirpy actor has roped in sultry Bengali actress Priyanka Bose to play the leading lady.

The show, which is the Indian version of the cult US detective thriller with the same name, is set to release on Colors from August.

Priyanka will apparently play the role of a Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent, a part that Nina Myers essayed in the original.

The only difference being that, instead of Kiefer Sutherland, Anil Kapoor will be playing the lead.

He will play the role of Jack Bauer.

The story doing the round is that the casting director of the TV show had to face some technical glitches before finalizing on Priyanka.

Although initially, they had planned to audition for the role, an outpour of eager mails crashed the system, forcing the casting director to withdraw that plan.

In fact, Anil’s office was inundated with so many actors that the staff had to put out a placard stating that all roles were filled out.

Apart from the obvious references to its much-popular international show, Anil’s ‘24’ will also face stiff competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s daily soap ‘Saraswatichandra’.
