Twin births spell cheer for flop star Sanjay Dutt
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is probably hoping his newborn twin children will resurrect his dying career.
His wife Manyata gave birth to a boy and girl at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Thursday afternoon, according to actress Ameesha Patel.
Patel, who is a close friend of the couple, posted a note on the microblogging site Twitter: “At the hospital. Maanayata just delivered. One boy one girl," she wrote. "Congrats to sanju n maana. Sooo happy for them. Babies n mom both safe."
The two new babies, names for whom are yet to be announced, already have a half-sister: new graduate Trishala, Dutt’s daughter from his first marriage to late actress Richa Sharma.
Manyata was recently seen at a religious function in the Dutt household, telling guests she was ready to welcome her twin children.
The 51-year-old actor has said that things started looking up for him ever since Manyata came into his life. He has starred in a string of more than ten flops since his release from prison in 2007, most recently “Knock Out”, with only one hit, “All The Best” in four years.
As a result, work has been hard to come by for the popular star. Two projects he is attached to, "Chatur Singh Two Star" and Apoorva Lakhia’s "Mumbai Taxi Service", have either been delayed or shelved, leaving the actor to depend on Raju Hirani’s "Munnabhai Chale Amerika", Indra Kumar’s Double Dhamaal and David Dhawan’s comedy film Rascal to turn his fortunes around.
