Outlandish to perform free concert in Dubai tonight

The opening night of the Dubai International Film Festival just got hotter with the inclusion of Danish band, Outlandish, will perform at a free concert at The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence on Wednesday at 8pm.

The performance will be part of DIFF’s musical segment called Rhythm & Reels.

Comprising Isam Bachiri, Waqas Ali Qadri and Lenny Martinez, Outlandish’s musical style is inspired in part by the cultural roots of the members and often contain lyrics in Spanish, Urdu, Arabic, Punjabi and Danish.

There performance will follow the opening ceremony of the festival at Madinat Arena in Madinat Jumeirah, attended by Arab, Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities and the screening of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, the Tom Cruise-starrer partly shot in Dubai.

Other performances at Rhythm & Reels include one by the 60-member UAE-German philharmonic orchestra on Thursday and a concert featuring Australian virtuoso pianist Tom Donald, Sicilian Bagpipes, sax player and flaustist Tanino Lazzaro, accordionist Giancarlo Parisi, and Harp, Didgeridoo and Tambourine player Luca Recupero on Friday.

Music-inspired films including “Silence: All Roads Lead to Music”, “Peter Gabriel: New Blood Live in London 3D concert”, “Neil Young: Journeys” and “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne” will be screened every night for free.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, DIFF opens with a red carpet ceremony to be attended by a bevy of Arab, Hollywood and Bollywood celebrities, and the screening of “Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol”, the Tom Cruise-starrer, partly shot in Dubai.

DIFF will screen 171 films from 56 nations representing the best of national, regional and world cinema between December 7 and 14 at the Mall of the Emirates, Madinat Jumeirah and The Walk at JBR.
