Kim Kardashian apologises after racy emojis break Apple Store
Kim Kardashian West's latest Kimoji app broke the Apple Store on Sunday (21.12.15) after overwhelming demand.
The reality TV star released her Kimoji application, on which users can download a series of Kim-style emojis and use them in their messages to friends, and the overwhelming demand for the $1.99 feature led to the Apple Store crashing.
The 35-year-old stunner took to Twitter to apologise to Apple for breaking their digital distribution platform.
In a series of tweets, she wrote: "Apple, I'm so sorry I broke your App Store!!!
"I can't believe so many people downloaded my KIMOJI app that it affected the entire app store!
"We worked so hard on this app & we know there are some issues due to the massive downloads that the whole tech team is so working on!
"My Kimoji app will be up and running again soon! They are also working on fixing the search so u can easily find it!
"Ahhhhhhhh I still can't believe we broke the entire App Store!!!! #KIMOJI
#ConvoWithMom #KIMOJI I know the App Store is still working hard to fix everyone's app! (sic)"
Fortunately for Apple, Kim's app didn't crash the store for long and it was up and running again.
She later tweeted: "Ok! We're back! Everything is fixed! Get KIMOJI now in the App Store! (sic)"
Husband Kanye West praises Kim for releasing her new app by picking his favourite racy Kimoji.
The app is already the top-grossing entertainment app on Apple’s AAPL, -0.09% App Store within a day of its release.
The 'Kimoji' iOS app launched Monday, giving users access to Kim-themed emojis, including Kardashian’s famous booty, a doughnut and lipstick.
Here's what the emojis look like in action, as seen from a text exchange that was shared on Instagram between Kardashian and her mom, Kris Jenner.
The app outranks her sister's 'Kylie Jenner Official App,' which is at No. 5. The two apps sandwich Netflix NFLX, -0.33% Hulu and HBO Now in a ranking of the current highest-grossing entertainment apps.
It also ranks No. 11 on the current overall highest-grossing apps, behind favorites such as King Digital Entertainment's KING, -0.06% Candy Crush, Pandora P, -0.14% and Spotify.
Say what you will about her portrayal in the reality TV show, 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians,' but Kardashian says she's a business person, really.
