Matthew Newton rushed to hospital
Actor Matthew Newton is reportedly in a Sydney hospital a day after appearing in court.
The 34-year-old son of show business couple Bert and Patti Newton was rushed to Westmead Hospital with acute abdominal illness about 9.30am (AEDT) on Thursday, the Seven network reports.
He is believed to have spent most of the day isolated.
Newton has spent most of the last five months in a rehabilitation facility in Wentworthville, and was collected from there by ambulance on Thursday morning, the network said.
He appeared in Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court yesterday, after being arrested last month for allegedly breaching an apprehended violence order taken out by his ex-girlfriend, actress Rachael Taylor.
His solicitor Chris Murphy said Newton suffered from a psychiatric illness, but did not have any addictions.
He said the actor is living in “utter fear” after being king hit by a man following a media campaign calling on people to “punch him in the mouth“.
