Your child got talent? Audition for Dh150,000 prize money

Competition for the three crowns of this year’s edition of Dubai Festival City Mall’s signature event, Kidz Starz, reached fever pitch levels during the first week since organisers started accepting registrations, signalling a sharp rise in participant numbers compared to last year’s inaugural event.

More than 200 children from six to 15 years old have been registered in less than six days for the privilege to be considered for an audition that could potentially earn them a contestant’s spot at the UAE’s first in-mall talent show.

Auditions start this weekend and the best performing children will win the right to participate at the semi-finals on their way to the November 15th grand finale.

Their talents will be adjudicated upon by a panel of nine UAE-based musicians, dancers, choreographers and leading magazine editors. Their decisions will determine the three overall Kidz Starz 2013 winners who will win bragging rights and their parents’ adulation, not to mention newly found fame and fortune through the Dh150,000 in prizes which will be shared between winners and their competitors.

“We are still accepting registrations but time is fast running out as this weekend auditions are scheduled to start,” said David Robinson, General Manager-Shopping Malls at Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate.

“As a first of its kind ‘in mall’ children’s talent show in the UAE, the meaningful event managed to bring the community together and hone children’s talent in singing and dancing giving them an opportunity to build up their confidence while rewarding exceptional performances,” he added.

A studio recording session, music classes and a professionally shot video are some of the many gifts that will be received by the winners and participants.

Robinson added: “We would like to thank our tenants for providing the widest variety of giveaways. This year’s show will be very special as we made sure that all our contestants walk away with a gift as a token of our appreciation for their hard work and effort.

“Kidz Starz is the ideal platform that celebrates childhood in its full glory as it encourages children of different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities to demonstrate their talents in front of the multinational audience of Dubai,” he concluded.
