Institutional investors buy greater share of stocks
The value of stocks bought by institutional investors on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) as a percentage of the total value of stocks traded on the exchange is increasing month over month, according to Emirates 24|7 research.
According to the latest monthly trading data until May this year that is available on the DFM website, the value of stocks bought by institutional investors during May reached Dh1.26 billion comprising 21.8 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the month.
However, over the months, this percentage is constantly on the rise, the trading data show.
For instance, a month earlier in April this year, the value of stocks bought by institutional investors reached Dh2.02bn comprising 20.06 per cent (less than May figure) of the total value of stocks traded during the month.
Similarly, in March this year the value of stocks bought by institutional investors was 20 per cent of the total value of stocks traded on the exchange, and again lesser than the May value.
In February and January also, the value of stocks bought by institutional investors was lesser then May figure, at 19.2 per cent and 18.7 per cent, respectively.
In fact, the value of stocks bought by institutional investors in May this year (at 21.8 per cent) as a percentage of the total value of stocks traded on the exchange, is the highest since December last year, when the share reached 22.7 per cent.
