Dubai plays 'Call of Duty: Ghosts' on Xbox One's new controller: Reviews

Games 13, which concluded in Dubai yesterday at the World Trade Centre, capped three days of pure gaming adrenaline for die-hards from the UAE.

However, few of the highlights of the event, which included an appearance by wrestler Mick Foley and the world finals of PES 14, matched the chance gamers were given to play the new Call of Duty release, Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Long lines snaked around the high-security tent hosting the game.

Until the release of Grand Theft Auto V recently, Call of Duty is possibly the biggest game modern gaming franchise ever.

However, the double whammy for gamers was not only did they get to preview the new Call of Duty that has not yet been released, but they got to play it on the new Xbox One controller, which will also only be out yesterday.

Here are what some of the lucky gamers who got a shot at the new game and console had to say.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Khalifa Suwaidi (14), UAE, Rashid School (Dubai)

"Call of Duty: Ghosts is different from all the previous Call of Duty games. There are new weapons, new maps, new gameplay and the graphics are outstanding. I think that Call of Duty: Ghosts will increase the popularity of the Call of Duty games.”

Wasay Bokhari (16), Pakistan, Dubai Gems Private School

"Call of Duty: Ghosts is a really nice game, it’s really fast paced, compared to the previous Call of Duty games they have improved the quality clearly. It’s a bigger improvement and I think Treyarch has done a good job with it. This event [Games 13] is great, it gives us a chance to try all the games."

XBOX One

Louis Olivier (15), South Africa, Repton School (Dubai)

“I have an Xbox 360, the Xbox One is just much nicer in my opinion. It has Halo 5, I’m a Halo fan boy, and it’s going to have Titanfall which is also another game I’m looking forward to. The controller just feels more comfortable in my hands. Very good graphics!”

Mohammed Musbeh (12), UAE, Rashid School (Dubai)

“The controller is amazing! I like the feel of it, I like where the keys are, I like how it’s not too big and not too small. The Graphics are just outstanding, beating all the other gaming consoles. The one feature I do not like, is how the Kinect works, the Kinect just watches you.
I feel like there should be a feature that disables it, but I already know that modders in the near future will be able to do something like that. In general, the Xbox One is my favourite.”
