35 workers hurt after bus brake fails in RAK
Thirty five Asian construction workers suffered from medium injuries when a bus transporting them rammed into the surrounding wall of a villa in Ras Al Khaimah after failure of its brakes, according to police.
The bus, which belongs to a local construction firm, was approaching a roundabout on Khuzam road in the northern emirate on Thursday when the brake system failed.
The driver shot past the roundabout and banged the bus into the villa’s wall and steel gate. The accident stopped the vehicle but caused severe damage to its front.
“The 35 workers on the bus suffered from medium injuries while the driver was caught inside after slamming into the wall…he was later pulled out by the civil defence,” RAK police chief Colonel Ali Al Alkeem said.
