3D maps fitted in 16 Dubai bus stations

RTA’s Public Transport Agency has completed the installation of 3D maps of public bus routes in 16 bus stations in Dubai.

“The installation of newly designed stands displaying 3D bus charts is compatible with the needs of customers and users of mass transit means and main bus stations,” said Adel Mohammed Shakri, Director of Planning & Business Development, RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

“The 3D maps installed in several bus stations are characterised by -high accuracy where all details of the station are visible, and service points are clearly marked. A spider map has also been provided depicting the path of public bus routes serving the station along with the Offences Code; all of which are integrated in a single map installed at the entry/exit points of the said stations.

“We have analysed the findings of questionnaires received through Customers Service Department via the toll-free number 8009090 for 2014, and have identified customer needs in all bus stations across Dubai. We are currently working on the provision of seats and shades for passengers, and slashing the service frequency in some routes based on public feedback and field observations. We are also improving the service of enquiring about lost items through dialilng the above free number and reporting the case to the staff in charge of found and lost items in public buses. Previously, valuable lost items and documents used to be despatched to the police on weekly basis, but now under this improved plan, such items will be dispatched every 48 hours as customers need their belongings as soon as possible,” explained Shakri.

“A new plan is being developed where transport information will be on display at various facilities and landmarks of Dubai. Such information will be transmitted through RTA’s main website as well as affiliated portals such as Wojhati and Dubai Bus; which can readily process information received,” said Shakri.
