Abu Dhabi auto workshops shifting to Musaffah

Auto workshops in Abu Dhabi have started shifting to Musaffah industrial area in line with a decision by the municipality, Al Khaleej daily reported on Thursday.

Between 50 and 100 of the nearly 3,200 workshops are expected to complete their relocation every month, the paper said.

The decision, issued in May, affects all shops involved in auto repair business and is part of plans to keep the capital clean and healthy, the paper quoted a municipality official as saying.

“All those shops must move to Musaffah and other areas on the fringes of Abu Dhabi a year after their licence is renewed,” it said.

Musaffah is located about 20km north of Abu Dhabi and is already home to most vehicle repair workshops and garages.
