The British embassies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai launched last week an awareness campaign ahead of the Christmas and New Year's celebrations calling for British nationals to have fun during this festive season but to also respect the laws and customs of the United Arab Emirates.
The campaign called '12 Days of Christmas' was launched on the embassies' social media platforms - Facebook and Twitter - and urged Brits in the UAE to enjoy the festive season in an appropriate manner.
The British embassies highlighted the need to be aware of the UAE laws and regulations related to buying and consuming alcohol, UAE's zero tolerance to drink driving, posting photos on social media and to avoid any behaviour that can be labeled as anti-social.
Her Majesty's Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates Edward Hobart said: "We want everybody to enjoy the holidays and to have good time with their family and friends. Part of enjoying Christmas and New Year is to stay away from trouble, and that can be easily done. All you need to do is to keep yourself informed about the laws in UAE and to show courtesy to the traditions and culture of our host. I take this opportunity to wish those who celebrate Christmas in the UAE a very happy holiday."
