Cleaner admits stealing phone from aircraft

A Nepalese has pleaded guilty and confessed to taking a mobile phone he found on Qatar Airways aircraft.

“I am guilty… I did take the phone and tried to steal it," confessed 26-year-old DB.

Two policemen found the phone in DB’s possession while checking workers who clean planes.

One of the two policemen testified that the cleaners were standing in the search queue and “I recognised that the defendant stood perplexed and worried.

He was trying to avoid the queue. Then he slid his hand into his pocket, took out a nylon bag and threw it away. I walked up to him and asked him to pick the bag up and open it. Inside the bag there was a silver-coloured mobile phone set.”

The court adjourned the case for verdict until February 1.
