Cooperation with media is vital: Dubai police
Dubai’s police should establish strong cooperation with the media to give the public easy access to news but the media must ensure truth and transparency in its reporting, Dubai’s deputy police chief was quoted on Wednesday as saying.
Major General Khamis Matar Al Muzainah said the UAE media could play a significant role in serving the country by transmitting correct reports and shunning involvement in activity that could harm the local community.
Addressing students from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum information college during a visit to his office, Muzainah said Dubai police want to establishment a “real working relationship and partnership” with the media.
“The Dubai police’s information policy is based on three simple pillars—clarity, frankness and willingness to provide help to all media organs,” he said.
“We are ready to give timely information so it can reach the public quickly without distortion…Dubai police are keen to establish strong cooperation with the media as this is vital to create a special relationship between the two sides…we are ready to provide the media with all news sought by the public taking into considering the need to stick to right criteria related to privacy and secrecy in line with human rights protection laws and information freedom.”
