Court receives medical file in D'Souza kids case
The Dubai Misdemeanour Court received the medical file of the D'Souza kids, who died last year of food poisoning after eating at a Dubai restaurant.
The file details the condition of five-year-old Nathan and seven-year-old Shisli when they were rushed to emergency; the treatment given by the duty doctor, ETM, 46, Iraqi; and the cause of their death on June 12, 2009.
The parents had logged a police complaint the following day. The cops completed the investigation in eight days and referred the case to the public prosecution, which in turn finished the investigation in nine months.
The first hearing took place on March 1, 2010. The case has been pending since then as the defence asked time to prepare after reviewing the medical report.
The Nepali cook, TR, 25; and IS, 33, Filipina in charge of the kitchen at Lotus Garden Restaurant on that fateful day, have both denied the accusation of accidently causing death of the kids. The doctor is accused of medical negligence.
The Misdemeanour Court presided by Judge Jamal Mohammed Nooh Al Jubaili, adjourned the case until next month for lawyers to review the medical report.
