Cylinder blast in Ajman tower

A powerful explosion rocked Horizon Towers in Ajman at dawn on Monday and police said later it was caused by a gas cylinder blast.

cores of residents in the area stampeded out to the roads after the blast in an apartment in the 15th floor in one of the towers, Emarat Al Youm daily reported.

The blast damaged some cars parked near the towers as a result of flying glass and debris, the paper said.

“A large number of police cars and ambulances are still present in the area,” the paper said. It quoted a resident as saying:”I felt as the building was collapsing. I rushed out to the street with my wife after I heard the explosion.”

The paper said it would provide further details later.
