Driver dies after truck catches fire in accident

An Egyptian died in an accident today (Thursday) morning in the central region of Sharjah.

Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Bin Darwish, Director of the Police Department for Central Region, said Operations Room received a call at 4.45am about the accident involving a number of trucks on Dhaid-Masafi Road, resulting in the death of the driver after one of the trucks caught fire.

Police Patrols, the National Ambulance, Civil Defence, and the Municipality of Al Dhaid teams rushed to the scene to put fire and rescue the injured.

Colonel Ahmed urged drivers to leave space between the vehicles – especially the trucks – as this was one of the key reasons for the accidents and the loss of human lives.

He appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and not to crowd around the accident scene in order to carry out rescue operation in the short possible time.
