Ejari contract mandatory for Dewa services

The last date for landlords to register with Ejari (e-service) is July 16, announced the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera).
 
According to a report in 'Emarat Al Youm', Ejari contract will be mandatory to avail utility services such as water and electricity connections, henceforth.
 
Notices were sent out to concerned parties earlier asking them to register before June 16. A one-month grace period is now being offered, it added.
 
An official source at the Land Department in Dubai told the Arabic newspaper, on condition of anonymity, that the department will not accept any contract unless registered with Ejari after July 16.
 
According to Rera the rule applies to lessors and tenants in Dubai; landlords and real estate companies entrusted with the management of realty projects on behalf of others, as well as officials agents of owners of commercial complexes and shopping centers .
 
This would become the first step in most transaction, it added. For instance, Dewa will demand an Ejari contract before approving connections.
 
The e-service programme will lead to the establishment of a comprehensive database of real market trends and support investment opportunities.
 
The application is user-friendly and one can register details easily, Rera added.
 
Ejari is an online registration system initiated by Rera that requires all Dubai rental or lease contracts to be registered at this portal.
