Fatal UAE road accidents fall 20%
Road accident deaths fell 30 per cent from 70 in the first half of 2011 to 49 in the first half of this year in Dubai.
‘Run over’ accidents accounted for 19 deaths or 38.7 per cent of total casualties.
Collision of vehicles caused the death of 14 people or 28.5 per cent of total casualties.
Lack of road worthiness of vehicles and crash into iron barriers caused the death of three people each.
Collision with trees killed two people while collision with animal, street light column and quay claimed the lives of one person each.
