Fire breaks out in building under construction in Dubai

A building under construction in Dubai caught fire on Tuesday evening. Workers at the site escaped without injuries.

The fire broke out at around 5.30pm at a building site adjacent to the Armed Forces Complex opposite Academic City and Dubai Silicon Oasis.

According to a worker at the site, fire broke out on the sixth and the top most level of the structure.

"Most of it was wood. Initially, the workers themselves tried to put out the fire, but it spread rapidly. Civil Defence personnel came and took over the extinguishing of the fire," he said.

At least half a dozen Civil Defence vehicles were present at the construction site.

The fire was eventually brought under control.
