Fire rips through warehouse in Dubai

UPDATE: Dubai Civil Defence has confirmed there were no injuries or causalities in the blaze that ripped through a warehouse in Ras Al Khor on Tuesday night.

A Civil Defence spokesperson told Emirates 24|7: "We received a call about the fire at 10.15pm and emergency crew were on the scene within minutes. We were able to bring the blaze under control at 12.20pm."

The spokesperson continued: "We can confirm there were no casualties due to the blaze and no one has sustained any serious injuries either.

"The blaze was limited to a single warehouse and the cause of fire will be determined following the investigation."

A fire ripped through a warehouse in Dubai’s Ras Al Khor industrial area on Tuesday night, with eyewitnesses reporting Civil Defence crew were battling the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control.


“The fire broke out around 10.15pm in the Ras Al Khor industrial area, which runs adjacent to Al Aweer’s used car market, where my family runs a showroom,” eyewitness Kamran Khan told Emirates 24|7.

“From what we saw, the fire seemed to originate in a Chinese warehouse that is located between a tyre warehouse and a unit that houses air-condition cylinders for cars.”

Khan stated Dubai Civil Defence teams were on the blaze within minutes, trying to contain the fire to a single warehouse before it spread to the neighbouring businesses.

The fire raged on for several hours, before emergency crew were able to bring the blaze under control around midnight, said another eyewitness.

The thick black plume of smoke was reported as far as Downtown, while residents of Nad Al Hamar.

Emirates 24|7 has contacted Dubai Civil Defence for further details on the fire, and an update was awaited at the time of writing this report.
