Heavy rains flood Sharjah, RAK roads: Vehicle washed away [video]

Several parts of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah received heavy rains on Tuesday, leading to road closures and flooded valleys, reported Emarat Al Youm.

Wadi Al Helo witnessed heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in the afternoon causing traffic jams.

At least one vehicle was washed away before police patrols and civil defence retrieved it. Sharjah Municipality set into action with tankers drawing water off the streets to facilitate traffic flow.

Areas such as Shawka, Rahba, Al Ghail, Al Siji in Ras Al Khaimah also received heavy rains on Tuesday, obstructing traffic.

While Al Shuhada’a  street of Al Tawyeen area was flooded, the main road to Wadi Shawka was closed due to flooding, according to the report.

Al Khaleej reported that some parts of Fujairah also received moderate to heavy showers on Tuesday, accompanied with thunder and lightning.

Meanwhile, temperatures dropped across the UAE in the last two days.
