Jail and loss of job for car accident
A Saudi man landed in jail and lost his job after failing to pay repair costs for two cars damaged in an accident he had caused, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Sunday.
The unnamed man has been in prison for nearly 18 months while efforts to restore him to his job have failed, Bab said.
“The man had been asked to pay SR18,000 in damages to the company’s car and to the other car owner but he could not secure the money,” the paper said in a report from Riyadh.
“Because of this, the company sacked him while he has been in jail for nearly 18 months.”
The paper quoted the man’s brother as saying he was the only supporter of his children and that his imprisonment has already affected the health of his parents.
“I appeal for all benevolent people to help my brother so he can be set free and come back to his family,” the brother said.
