Massive traffic jam on Dubai-Sharjah road on first day of Ramadan

A huge traffic jam has developed on Al Ittihad Road on Wednesday late afternoon on the way from Dubai to Sharjah, with the tailback of vehicles going all the way back to Garhoud Bridge. Cars are almost at standstill.

The congestion seems to have happened because of the change in working hours with the start of the holy month of Ramadan. Most offices in Dubai closed two or three hours earlier than usual on Wednesday, leading to a big rush towards home in Sharjah.

Two minor accidents seem to have taken place along this route near Deira City Centre and Ansar Mall.

One ambulance was also seen stuck in the traffic jam.
