Parents advised on school transport

Dubai Police has urged UAE parents to park their cars in designated areas when they go to pick up or drop off their children from school.

While reviewing traffic flow and vehicle movements around a nursery in Al Manara area during a visit, Major-General Muhammad Saif Al Zafeen, Director of Traffic at Dubai Police, asked parents to refrain from parking their cars on the road.

Instead they should park the car in a designated area and take a few minutes walk to the school, he noted.

“There are many parking lots available near schools but still some parents prefer to shortcut the distance, hence stop the vehicles on the road which affects traffic flow,” he added.

Major-General Zafeen urged parents not to violate traffic rules for the safety of their children and other road users for such incidents lead to serious run-over accidents.

He asked school managements to create another entrance behind the school so that parents can pick up and drop off children, noting that it the children and parents will not have to cross the road.
