Road accidents pose major challenges for health and security sectors
The Ministry of Health Participated in the Gulf Traffic Week which was launched last Sunday under the title "Reducing Traffic Accidents Together". Continuing for one week, the ministry's participation comes as part of the initiatives of the Ministry of Interior to increase the awareness of the society members about traffic regulations and procedures.
Road accidents are considered one of the biggest challenges for health facilities and security sector. Such accidents require full preparation by emergency departments in the hospitals beginning from the accident scene till receiving the injured cases in the hospital itself.
Additionally, the Ministry of Health increases the awareness of the society members with dangers of road accidents as well as their societal and health burdens in cooperation with the general directorate of traffic coordination in the ministry of interior and competent authorities.
Dr. Salem Abdul Rahman Al Darmaki, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, said: "We are cooperating with the competent departments in the Ministry of Interior to unify the efforts and reducing traffic accidents".
The Ministry of Health put the logo of the campaign on its electronic website and promoted the event and organized several visits to the accidents departments in the hospitals in order to get acquainted to the procedures of receiving road accident cases and providing the required services.
The Ministry of Health also hosted a number of educational and awareness seminars that were organized by the Ministry of Interior in Abu Dhabi to increase the community members with the dangers of road accidents and ways of avoiding them. It is noted that the cooperation comes as part of the societal initiative to be implemented by the government communication department in the Ministry of Health.
