Sharjah bridge to Al Dhaid closed at night
From today, the bridge at Intersection 4 on Al Dhaid Road will be closed in the direction of Al Dhaid Road during nightly hours for 10 days, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has reported.
From August 16 until August 26, the closure will be implemented from 1am-5am only, while traffic in all directions will be open during the rest of the day.
Intersection 4 is situated opposite Sharjah International Airport and traffic on this road is mostly headed to Al Dhaid or towards the airport, explains Alaa Khanjar, Project Manager, SRTA.
As an alternative, road users can make a right turn at the intersection onto Taryam Omran Road towards Al Maliha Road.
On this road they can take a U-turn to either continue their travel to Al Dhaid or head to the airport, Khanjar said.
While light vehicles are instructed to make the U-turn at the first turn, heavy vehicles must drive up to the roundabout to take the U-turn.
Although maintenance work is carried out on Taryam Omran Road too, commuters taking this leap will not be affected by these road works, as the U-turns are situated before the affected part of this road, he further explained.
Traffic diversions are signalled with additional markings and road users are urged to follow the instructions.
The closure of the bridge is to allow for maintenance work to improve traffic flow and safety in the emirate.
