Sharjah school celebrates ‘Earth Day’

Delhi Privates School (DPS), Sharjah celebrated ‘Earth Day’ on Tuesday.

Various activities were held to help children learn ways to ‘go green’ and develop eco-conscious habits that last a lifetime. Special assemblies based on the theme were also held.

An art marathon themed ‘Colorus of the Earth’ was also held for the children.

Other activities included ‘making of photo frames using used CD covers’, ‘planting money plants in recycled bottles’, ‘making of stationery stands using used cans’.

Portraits of the rulers of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah were made by Grade 5 students using recycled materials.  All students were given a special ‘Earth Day’ badge as a token of their participation.

The school’s headmistress urged children to be more sensitive to protect ‘Mother Earth.’

Together we took a pledge to make every day an ‘Earth Day’, she added.
