Two get jail, deportation for stealing cosmetics
The Dubai Criminal Court awarded two Indian workers six months' jail term each followed by deportation for stealing shaving blades, hair creams, lip moisturisers, perfumes and bulbs from a company store.
Abdul Kareem Rida, policeman, testified before the prosecution that on December 15, 2006, a case was registered about a theft in a store at Al Awir Industrial area.
Checking the store, police noticed that the thieves have followed the same modus operandi of other thefts reported in the area earlier.
NTP, 30, and KFS, 30, were arrested following investigations and confessed breaking into the store and stealing shaving blades, hair creams, lip moisturisers and small bulbs from the stores of Taher Ali Ibrahim and Partners Trading Company.
The two accused, who led the police to a store in Ajman where they had kept their theft items, also confessed about other two (fugitives) who accompanied them in their crime.
They confessed before the prosecution that they have sold part of their thefts to an African for Dh15,000.
NTP confessed before the court of committing the theft but objected that it was at night and told the court that it was between 7am and 8am. He asked the court for mercy.
KFS denied the accusation and told the court that he has nothing to do with it and asked for verdict.
However, the court found both of NTP and KFS guilty.
