Two suicides in two weeks in central jail reported

In yet another prison suicide case, an inmate serving life sentence ended his life in Dubai Central jail on Wednesday, according to a police source.

The deceased in his early 30s hanged himself inside a solitary confinement cell, reported 'Gulf News'.

He was held for almost three years after a Dubai Court found him guilty of murder and robbery. He apparently ended his life on the first day of solitary confinement after police found him "threading the face of another inmate inside the cell".

Police said the deceased removed a thread from his blanket to help another inmate trim his facial hair.

An Iranian, he has one child.

Last week a 20-year-old Emirati prisoner committed suicide in the central jail on the last day of Ramadan.
