UAE foundation’s iftar in Malaysia
The Khalifa Foundation is implementing a Ramadan food assistance programme for the Rohingya refugees in Malaysia under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in the southeast Asian country.
A foundation source said an iftar banquet was hosted for 500 Rohingya refugees in the presence of a number of representatives of Rohingya humanitarian organisations and Malaysian non-governmental organisations.
Addressing the gathering, UAE Ambassador to Malaysia Abdullah Mattar Al Mazrouie spoke about the UAE's leading role in areas of humanitarian and charitable work.
He said the foundation had provided humanitarian assistance last April for 4,000 Rohingya families in Malaysia.
