Heads of Dubai government entities hail 'Smart Majlis' initiative
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched ‘Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Majlis,’ the largest smart and integrated platform in Dubai connecting 30 government entities that will receive suggestions, comments and ideas on which brainstorming sessions will be conducted.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chairman of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), felt that Sheikh Mohammed’s ‘Smart Majlis’ initiative will strengthen Dubai government’s communications with citizens, residents and visitors, according to a report in the Arabic language daily newspaper Emarat AlYoum.
Al Tayer said: “Sheikh Mohammed’s initiative aims to improve the quality of life in the Emirate of Dubai and help make Dubai the smartest city in the world. The Dubai 2021 plan aims to make the Emirate’s government a pro-active and creative leader in meeting the needs of the individual and society.”
He added Sheikh Mohammed’s ‘Smart Majlis’ initiative will enhance communication with citizens, residents and visitors through an intelligent platform designed to allow everyone to submit ideas and positive proposals to improve government services.
Al Tayer continued: “This initiative is consistent with the national strategy for innovation launched by Sheikh Mohammed, which aims to make the UAE among the most innovative countries in the world, and stimulate creative ideas and proposals through an innovative platform for direct interaction which helps government agencies to obtain suggestions and creative ideas.”
Hamid Mohammed Al Qatami, Director-General of Dubai Health Authority, felt that Sheikh Mohammed’s ‘Smart Majlis’ initiative will be a global landmark in the concept of communication.
Al Qatami said: “Sheikh Mohammed has a vision of new rules of work, performance and creativity and the launch ‘Smart Majlis’ is considered as a mark of modern leadership thinking and a shift in global communication concepts.
He said Sheikh Mohammed’s initiative will help in building a knowledge-based economy society marked by innovation and will be a sophisticated tool of creativity.
Al Qatami said the ‘Smart Majlis’ initiative is an incentive for creative minds which they must make use of by participating in it.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, said RTA had received 13 suggestions and one complaint during the first three hours after the launch of ‘Smart Majlis.’
He said the Smart Majlis Council will follow up all ideas and suggestions to improve RTA services.
Al Tayer said Sheikh Mohammed’s initiative is an extension of his ‘open door’ policy towards all. Sheikh Mohammed believes that the goal of making Dubai the smartest city in the world cannot be achieve without participation of citizens, residents and visitors.
He added that Sheikh Mohammed employs modern technology as a new channel of communication with all residents of the Emirate of Dubai to listen to their ideas, suggestions and observations.
