Mohamed receives US Congress team
General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received at Al Mina Palace a delegation from the US Congress, led by Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
General Mohamed welcomed the delegation members and wished them a pleasant stay in the UAE. The delegation includes Judy Herrmann, Deputy Director and Dana Stroll, senior technical staff in the US Congress. They were accompanied by Michael Corbin, US Ambassador to the UAE.
The meeting, which was attended by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, touched on the ties of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and the United States and ways to enhance them.
General Mohamed praised the efforts made by the US senates through visits and direct interaction with the UAE's relevant institutions to get an insight about the country's social, economic, educational and political characteristics.
"The UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has defined its goals for building and training national capabilities in all fields," he said.
General Mohamed also referred to the UAE's vision for developments in the region, saying: "Our key principle is to encourage dialogue, peace, security, stability and development for all nations." The delegation members said they were pleased with their visit to the UAE and meeting with the officials here.
Also present at the meeting were Ali Mohamed Hamad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Higher National Security Council; Yousif Mana Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States; and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
