No lifting of ban on worker convicted by court
The UAE Ministry of Labour has declined to lift the one-year ban on a worker convicted by a court over charges of breach of trust, citing that the Labour Law allows an employer to slap one-year work ban on employee convicted by the court.
The Labour Law also grants a right to an employer to terminate the services of a worker without warning if he is convicted in a crime against honor or integrity or public morals. The convict could also be deprived from the end of service dues.
This was disclosed at an open-day of the ministry today attended by 40 employers, company representatives and workers.
