Employee wreaks havoc at Kuwaiti ministry
A Kuwaiti employee at the ministry of information in the oil-rich Gulf emirate used a broken bottle to storm the office of the ministry’s director who was away at the time of the attack that lasted more than five hours.
“You owe me KD10,000…give me my money,” the 33-year-old woman yelled at other employees before storming into the undersecretary’s office.
Security men at the ministry had to phone the police after failing to calm down the woman, who smashed a computer set at the office, splashed coffee and tea on the desk and chairs, and threw papers through the window of the office on the sixth floor. A large police force later arrived and began negotiating with her.
“She continued to scream and threatened to use the broken bottle against any one who comes close to her,” Alanba daily said on Wednesday.
“The woman was clearly in a hysterical condition as she later started to speak about politics and swear at the country…she later agreed to walk out but continued to grab the broken bottle…police agreed to her request to drive her own car to their centre under police escort.”
The paper said the woman faces charges of storming a senior official’s office and damaging public property, adding that she had been referred to hospital for psychiatric examination.
