Empty school bus falls into 200m abyss

A school bus left by its driver to be towed away by its owners for repair plunged into a 200-metre abyss in Saudi Arabia, depriving the village school girls from the only means of transport to their classes, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The bus, suffering from engine and brake problems, rolled slowly towards the edge of the valley before plunging to the bottom, Sabq said.

“Thanks God, the driver and the students were not in the bus when it fell down, but it was the only bus to transport them to school and the company has to get them a new one as soon as possible,” it said in a report from the western town of Taif.
