Lightning kills two in Saudi

Lightning killed two people and injured two others during a thunderstorm in southwest Saudi Arabia on Saturday, a local daily reported on Sunday.

The Civil Defence found the two dead bodies and two injured persons in a field in Jazan province following heavy rain in the region, 'Alriyadh' said.

Doctors at Jazan hospital said the death was caused by a thunderbolt, the paper added without identifying the victims.

It quoted Civil Defence spokesman Captain Yehya Qahtani as warning people against going out to fields and valleys during heavy rain. “Qahtani also warned people not to use mobile phones in such weather conditions.”
