Man delivers baby… cuts umbilical cord with knife

A Saudi man whose wife went into labour on the stairs as they walked up back home helped her deliver and used a kitchen knife to cut the umbilical cord.

The man from the northern town of Khafji then carried the baby girl and rushed to hospital screaming for help as blood covered him and his new daughter and part of her umbilical cord was till dangling from her belly.

Sabq newspaper said the father then started to swear at the doctors who had told him earlier that it was too early for his wife to deliver.

“The man said he came to hospital with his wife an hour ago but doctors told him to go back home on the grounds it was still too early for her to deliver,” it said.

“He rushed into hospital crying as he was much worried for his daughter and wife…the hospital then sent an ambulance to bring his wife…hospital sources said later both the mother and baby were in good condition.”
