Saudi blocks shopping site over drugs ads
Saudi authorities blocked a famous online shopping site after it published an advertisement by a user to sell drugs.
Haraj, one of the biggest online shopping site in the Gulf Kingdom, said its site had been blocked by the Telecommunications and Information Technology Authority inside Saudi Arabia “without a prior warning.”
“We do not know the reasons for the Authority’s decision. This is an unfortunate move as many users visit this site every day and it has become a source of living for thousands of people,” the site said on its web page.
Saudi newspapers quoting a statement by the Authority as saying it had decided to block that site after the management failed to intervene and delete an advertisement for the sale of half kilo of hashish.
